Temática: The use of ultrasound for critical paediatric patients (intensive care units, emergency services, operating room)
Resumo: The use of ultrasound for critical patient evaluation in paediatrics has increased exponentially over the years. This course, aimed at physicians dealing with emergent paediatric patients (intensive care units, emergency services, operating room), aims to ensure that trainees acquire theoretical knowledge and practical training to be able to include ultrasound as a diagnostic and interventional tool in clinical practice. This two-day course includes theoretical and practical sessions on the following topics: placement ofultrasound-guided central venous catheters, eFAST (focused assessment with sonography for trauma), pleuropulmonary evaluation and basic cardiac evaluation using high fidelity simulators and human models, allowing an excellent environment for practical training.
Programa: Learning Objectives: 1-Understand the basic principles of ultrasound 2- Learn how to evaluate the heart and its function 3- Learn to identify lung patterns and abnormalities 4- Learn to identify the abdominal organs and lesions in situations of trauma (eFAST) 5- Learn to evaluate the critical patient using cardiac, pulmonary and abdominal ultrasound, identifying the most emergent pathologies 6- Learn to place ultrasound-guided central venous lines 7- Integrate the concepts of ultrasound into clinical practice and thereby improve patient care quality Programme Sep 22nd > Introduction to ultrasound Ultrasound physical waves Probe types Function of the ultrasound Basic operating modes (2D, M, color and Doppler) > Transthoracic echocardiography Basic cardiac views Cardiac function Pulmonary hypertension Pericardial effusion and tamponade Clinical Cases > Lung ultrasonography Pulmonary exploration and ultrasound patterns Common pathologies: pleural effusion, pneumothorax, pneumonia/atelectasis, interstitial syndrome Clinical Cases > eFAST abdominal ultrasound Anatomy of the abdomen and anatomical references systematization Protocol E-FAST Clinical Cases > Ultrasound-guided central venous line placement Vascular exploration; Ultrasound guided central venous line placement Clinical Cases Sep 23rd > Practical Sessions > Course assessment Faculty > Edgar Semedo, MD > Luís Amaral Ferreira, MD > Maria Teresa Dionísio, MD > Rui Anjos, MD, MRCPCH, FECS
